A tailored four-month workshop to help you along every step of the AIA Fellowship submission process, from summary statements to layouts and reference letters.

Classes meet on Zoom

Mondays or Wednesdays

from 7pm to 8:30pm CDT

May 13 or 15:  What is Fellowship, Getting Started
Jun 17 or 19:   Building your Story
Jul 15 or 17:    Exhibits, Layout, References
Aug 19 or 20:  Polishing, Paperwork, Uploading
Sept 9 or 11:   Final Questions

Who should Register: Candidates who will develop, write, and complete the submittal themselves and are seeking guidance and insight into the process, tools for success, direct assistance with particular challenges, as well as accountability and motivation. First-, second-, and third-year candidates are welcome.

What to Expect: In-class exercises will help you identify the best category and strategy for your application. We will flesh out ideas, reveal the common themes of your story, and identify the best references. Homework will ensure that you make timely progress and the workshop’s structure will keep you on track. We will address all the submittal requirements, including the upload process and required paperwork. The small group setting means you’ll receive personal attention and build a network of fellow candidates to help you through the entire process.

Details: Each series will be limited to five participants and held online using Zoom on the days scheduled. I will tailor the class focus and content to meet the specific needs of the class cohort. Participants will receive a handbook with answers to FAQs, important dates, samples, general schedule, and detailed course outline. Handouts and worksheets will accompany every assignment.

The class fee includes three hours of one-on-one review or consultation between June 1 and September 1. Additional review or consultation time can be negotiated for additional fees and is subject to availability and schedule. As an alternative to the Academy workshops, full-scope services are also available.

Please email me to discuss if the Academy format is a good fit for you.

2024 Dates

"I can’t recommend the FAIA Academy strongly enough! The content for the workshops is laid out in an efficient but accessible way. The scheduling of each workshop is nicely done so that the pacing of work completed between workshops is just right. Canan’s incredible breadth of experience and knowledge informs the workshops and she is always generous with her time, expertise, and superb ability to help others to communicate their message.”  Keith Simon, FAIA | Austin, Texas
